Defence Machanisms

Introduction  

Defence Machanism is discovered by Sigmund freud in 1904 and Explained by Anna Freud (Daughter of Sigmund Freud in 1953.  

Definition:- Defence Machanisms is a unconscious physiological Machanisms that reduces anxiety which arising from unacceptable or harmful stimuli.

1. Compensation Defence Machanisms :- It is a defence machanisms in which a person has some weakness is one field but he is successful in another field.
Eg.  A child fail in school but he is good in cricket. 

2. Suppression Defence Machanisms:- It is a defence machanisms in which a person try to consciously avoid the painful or harmful situation. 

3. Repression Defence Machanisms:- It is a defence machanisms in which a person consciously forget the mishappening painful situation.
Supress the bad event with unconsciously level (try to forget)   
Eg.-  Divorce, Breakup, Lost love one.

4. Regression Defence Machanisms:- It is a defence machanisms in which a mature person behave like immature person in a critical situation.
(Show low age behaviour/childies behaviour)
5. Substitution Defence Machanisms:- It is a defence machanisms in which a person move from maor goal to a below goal/ desire.
Eg.  A person want to MBBS But replace to Bsc. Nursing.

6. Projection Defence Machanisms:- It is a defence machanisms in which a person passes the blame on other person or other person for any wrong situation on happening. 
(Passing the blame)

7. Displacement Defence Machanisms:- It is a defence machanisms in which a person direct their anger from more threatening person/situation to less threatening person/situation.
Eg.-  Director anger on teacher and teacher expailed out on students.

8.Rationalisation Defence Machanisms:- It is a defence machanisms in which a person give a socially justify answer that the another person will admire it. 
Eg. Why are you late --> Due to heavy rainfall.
Result --> school is not good.

9. Fantacy Defence Machanisms:- It is a defence machanisms in which a person create a dream for his joy & decreasing tension. 

10. Intelactulization Defence Machanisms:- It is a defence machanisms in which a person use cognitive thinking by to solve problem/ to deside right or wrong decision in stressful condition. 
Eg.  An Ox accident your bike
 A Police car accident your car.

11. Denial Defence Machanisms:- It is a defence machanisms in which a person unconsciously refuse the dangerous situation. 

12. Identification Defence Machanisms:- It is a defence machanisms in which a person identify himself/herself in the sucess of another person. 
Eg. Father seen sucess in his son.

13. Reaction Formation Defence Machanisms:- It is a defence machanisms in which a person show opposite behaviour against the situation. 
Eg. An angry man abuse you and you pass smile. 

14. Withdrawal Defence Machanisms:- It is a defence machanisms in which a person leaves the stressful situation. 
Eg.  A person that work in very stressful environment that affect his mental health, he quit the job

15. Conversion Defence Machanisms:- It is a defence machanisms in which a person have repressed some strees now due to this repression physical symptoms are coming. 
Eg.- Due to hidden tension increase B.P.
