A. Communicable Diseases Problems :-

        Communicable diseases a major health problem of the country. 

    The disease which can be transmitted form one person to another is called communicable disease. 

Major communicable diseases found in the country are as follows. 

  1. Corona Virus diseases
  2. Tuberculosis (tb) 
  3. Malaria 
  4. Leprosy 
  5. Diarrhoeal diseases 
  6. Acute Respiratory infections 
  7. Dengue fever
  8. Lymphatic filariasis 
  9. Enteric fever 
  10. AIDS
  11. Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs) 

B. Non- Communicable disease problems :-  The disease that are not transmitted from one person to another are known as non- communicable diseases.
        Non-communicable disease is also a major health problem of the country. 

Major non - communicable diseases prevalent in the country are as follows :- 
  1. Cancer
  2. Diabetes mellitus
  3. Heart disease
  4. Asthma
  5. Cataract
  6. Peptic Ulcer etc.

C. Nutritional problem :- Nutritional problems are also a major health problem of our country.   
    These problem occur due to malnutrition or overnutrition . Deficiency or excess of one or more nutrients in the diet causes nutritional problems. 

Some of major nutritional problem prevalent in our country are as follow.
  1.  Protein Energy Malnutrition 
  2. Nutritional anemia 
  3. Lathyrism
  4. Goitre
  5. Fluorosis
  6. Vitamin deficiency disease. 

D. Population explosion :- Population explosion is a curse and is adversely affecting the socio-economic development of the country.
Some major impacts of population explosion are as follows- 
 
  1. Shortage of food grains
  2. Poverty 
  3. Illiteracy
  4. Unemployment
  5. High Prices
  6. Increasing industrialization
  7. Low living standard
  8. Hinders the growth of agriculture and industry
  9. Housing problem
  10. Increasing number of dependents 
  11. Excess burden on the economy etc.

E. Environmental pollution problem :- Environmental pollution is also a major health problem of our country.  Much of the morbidity in our country are due to unhealthy environmental condition such as water pollution, air pollution, soil pollutions noise pollution etc. 
 
For example polluted water causes following health  problems 

  • Cholera
  • Typhoid fever
  • Paratyphoid fever
  • Diarrhoea
  • Bacillary dysentery
  • Hepatitis A
  • Polio
  • Amoebiasis
  • Giardiasis
  • Skin problem such as itching , dermatitis, scabies etc. 
  • Dental problem etc. 
Air pollution causes many problems such as 
  • Suffocation 
  • Emphysema 
  • Asthma
  • Pain in joints and muscles
  • Abortion 
  • Preterm labour
  • Low birth weight baby
  • Congenital malformation in the neonate. etc. 
Environmental Factor
  • Improper disposal of household wastes 
  • Wastes from industries 
  • Agricultural wastes 
  • Increasing number of vehicles on the road
  • Chemical fertilizers and insecticides used for increasing agricultural production
  • High population density 
  • Reckless cutting of tree
  • Open defection 
  • Minng activities 
  • Unawareness regarding causes and harmful effects of environmental pollution etc.
